A ST. PATRICK'S DATE

we went on a st. patrick's double date the other night with my friend elise and her husband dean. golfing at chelsea piers, a pretty irish endeavor, yes? we can call it our stab at honoring st patricks day and good thing, i've never been much for this holiday anyway.

but we love the soukups. (i would link to her blog here but it's private! the heck.) brandon is a pretty decent golfer. i'm horrible. but i did play field hockey in high school, so i happy madison'd that ish and things got a lot better after that. here's to golf!

helping your wife with her golf swing is the best way to get in a little date night groping.

thanks for inviting us to play, soukups!

A FEW PHOTOS AMONG THE BROWNSTONES

there is nothing worse than a crummy attitude on a beautiful day. and today, today was a real beautiful day. the morning started out warm and lovely and it just went on to get better and sunnier, meanwhile my mood just got fouler. rot and garbage and stuff.

i texted brandon at about 5:45 to warn him. the poor dear deserves all the advanced notice he can get. my husband is cute. he came home, rubbed my shoulders, and reminded me that i'm not being graded, that bad days are okay, and that i'm doing a good job. sometimes you just need to hear that junk. also i had just brought home some chocolate covered cheerios and lemme tell you. i want to kiss whoever thought of that one.

and anyway, later rebecca emailed me these photos she took of us last week, and that girl is talented. so that helped too.

thank you husband, thank you rebecca
and thank you chocolate covered cheerios because you guys taste real good.
(and thank you also, blowfish shoes, for the boots!)

A SUNDAY WALK ON THE PIER

the weather in the city lately has been perrrrrrrfect. we haven't needed a coat in weeks, and though our allergies might be kicking in a little earlier than usual, we think it is entirely worth it. (even if congestion + huck = nobody gets any sleep at all.)

on sunday it was warm enough for our traditional walk along the hudson river after church. normally it's so windy down by the water that you have to really be sure you mean it--a half-hearted windy walk won't work, you gotta really be committed. but today no commitment was required! just a light sweater and the sunshine bouncing off the water and birds in the sky.

ALSO.
huck found the perfect toddler-sized stairs on the pier
and learned how to walk up and down them without bending or crouching over.
huck! quit acting like a grown up!
