what it looks like

this is what it looks like when you are in business mode, on the phone with your husband, and the window of the apartment you are looking at has garbage bags for window coverings.

this is what it looks like when you have looked at crazy small apartments that cost stupidly crazy amounts of money all day long, just before you sit on a dusty floor with your mom and have a real good cry.

this is what it looks like when you are in a kitchen in the village that happens to have a shower in it.

this is what it looks like when you are traversing down many escalators to the A train.

this is what it looks like when your potential apartment has the view of what appears to be Azkaban.

this is what it looks like when you are a perfectly green bathroom, in an impossibly cute (and impossibly tiny) uws apartment, right smack on the entrance to Central Park, and you think, hallelujah!

  1. But if it's impossibly small it's so possibly easy to clean!

oh and thanks for that shower pic...I really needed that confirmation of absurdness!

  3. Wow, shower in the kitchen? I don't know if that's better or worse than a bathroom in the living room (that's what it was like in my last apartment!)

  4. That was a priceless post today! But I have total faith in you that whatever you find you will make it into the cutest apt. ever...you will sit on your couch, with a crib to one side, a bed on the other, kitchen and bath will be a single step away...but you will have each other....
    Chin up lovely lady!

  5. All any of those apartments need is your feminine touch, couch or no couch. I hope you were able to put your feet up tonight after all that multitasking and elevatoring!

  6. You just need one of those big fluffy love sacs to cuddle in! :D Azkeban could be fun...

  7. LOVE the bag, Nat. You will perservere, I'm sure of it. Personally, my internal ranking system is miniscule green bathrooms > showers in the kitchen, but apartments are not necessarily rational places. I wound up in my last one with the landlord from hell because it had a terrace big enough to throw a dinner party on. We all have our foibles. Happy hunting!

  8. I am so loving the shower in the kitchen idea!

And also, I love your pregnant belly! Too cute!

  9. My vote is for the apt. w/ the green bathroom: just steps from Central Park?!!? A new mother's dream strolling venue!! Wishing you the best!

  10. YAY! Thanks for the update! I've been thinkin' about you and hoping that everything is working out! Can't wait to see where you end up. My money is on the green bathroom/Central Park entrance one! How perfect would that be for mid-day walks with the Babe?!

  11. I'm telling you (as I did over in facebookland), there are some really nice, much bigger and much cheaper places both uptown and in Brooklyn...'course, when you know what you want, you know what you want, right? No tears, now!

  13. It's better than the duplex we just moved into without seeing it personally, just having sent a friend, when upon moving in, one discovers that the house is actually harboring cockroaches.

  17. So THAT'S what a shower in the bathroom looks like. "Is that your pantry?" "What? No, it's the shower." "Oh. Cute."

heh. : ) I like the green bathroom, but then again it is my favourite colour!

  20. Okay, seriously, I am so JEALOUS of your GORGEOUS pregnant self! Personally I looked like a bloated whale with my first. Jealous. Jealous. Jealous.

But not jealous of you having to find an apartment in a big city.

  25. Favorite Line: This is what it looks like when your potential SoHo apartment has the view of--what appears to be--Azkaban.

And that second picture: you look so cutely pregnant. (But maybe you don't feel so cutely pregnant? You still have your Awesome At Being Pregnant Card that you can whip out when you're feeling down.)

But a question for you: Did you have a couch in your last NYC apartment?

Oh, I hope you get the one by The Park. How great would that be?!
