TALLER BABIES

huck and i spent our afternoon yesterday on an organizational spree. every cupboard and drawer and storage box and closet, sweeping out the dust bunnies, putting away the summer shorts, and trying on old sweaters to see if they'd fit. we came across his halloween costume from last year, and just as i was about to let the "my baby's so big!" blues drown me in sorrow forever, we slipped it on him and i realized he's not as much bigger as i figured. it fit like a glove! as did all of his sweaters from last year, too...

i scratched my head for a minute. i swear he has gotten taller....

of course he has, except that sometimes i forget just how really really, really fat he was back then. like, soooooo fat. the fattest baby. all tasty and sugary. so all this old stuff that fit him tight across his belly then fits him just a little short in the arms now. it's kind of hysterical. and super depressing and is this the little boy i carried? and et cetera.

huck was so thrilled with his lion suit that he asked to wear it for his nap. i said yes because of course i was planning to never take it off of him ever again for the rest of his life. loooooook at hiiiiiiiimmmm!

  1. that lion suit is adorable! my brother wore one of those for halloween when he was a little guy, probably back in '89 and it's still one of my favorite pictures ever.

  6. Hahaha! Laughed so hard. Oh goodness, boys are too cute. Mine's 18 months and I can't figure out what he's going to be because it's friggin' HOT in Houston on Halloween. I'm thinking garden gnome. Anyways, Huck looks super cute, as usual.

  21. That first picture with the chunky, unsmiling face is the cutest one to me, for some reason. I would probably encourage him to wear his costume all the time too :).

All of my kids often wear a lot of clothes from one year to another, and they're all super healthy. I think it might be somewhat normal :).

  28. parody twitter account? it can only mean one thing: you're famous!

that's the lesson i've gleaned from shamefully flipping through gossip mags: people love to be mean to the fabulous. wear yr palazzos proudly & don't let the haters get you down.

    xx

p.s. thanks for the lion pics! my heart grew a size & a half!

  34. Can he be any cuter???? I love his face in the top photo. Those lips squashed together and those cheeks popped right out! My son makes the same face and it takes me by surprise every time. Needless to say, I constantly eat his cheeks.
