ZOO DAY SICK DAY MEMORIAL DAY, THE FIRST DAY

how do you like huck's strategically placed chocolate milk spill from lunch! he's a master with that chocolate milk.

and so it came to pass that brandon had himself a super extended holiday weekend, thanks to the past few weeks of bonkers billing hours and a very nice boss who basically kicked him out of the office. he's back at work today and i barely know what to do with myself.

brandon requested a full weekend of zoo trips for our huck the animal lover. i've been enjoying a chest cold all week so it was kind of a slow motion zoo day for me, but still a real good afternoon. i have this magical body where after two days of allergies it all gets trapped in my chest and i sound like an old smoker. it's really pretty.

and now, here is what we saw on our zoo day (sick day) memorial day the first day, at the central park zoo.

▲▲▲ we rolled in just in time to watch the sea lions eat lunch and perform a few tricks. it was also rather humid out. i am just giving you the background info here.

past cpzoo trips, for the sake of whatever:

  13. Love it! You make the zoo look so romantic, but I always end up sweaty and with morning sickness (maybe that was just the one time. . .) I must have what you have, a little cold hits and the allergies think they'll join in the party too. Whatever.

  23. I saw a story about "Cronuts"and thought of you! You are the only person I "know" in NYC right now, and I have to know what you think about these! You would have to get up early, which I know it's your thing, but perhaps you could bribe the Holbs into it? Here is a link

Love those shots of the snow leopard! I love the zoo. I am, in fact, not so different from a four year old when I visit the zoo.

  32. of course the lost reference got me... we're still struggling through the series. struggling only because we have a 1 year old ;) and that sea lion shot looks like a statue. amazing.

  33. I love the central park zoo! I went to the bronx zoo a few years ago and it was cool but whatever. and i kept putting off going to the central park one because so many people told me it was janky. but it totally isn't!!!! it's sweet and the perfect size to be magical but not exhausting and there are RED PANDAS. love it.

We regulary read your blog in the mornings and it sets our day off searching for an adventure comparable to yours. Thanks for the views of your day at the zoo.. I think we'll be booking a day off to do the same and soon!

  40. Love these pictures, particularly the last one. How good is your husband at photographing!?!? I'm hoping I can convince my boyfriend to be as enthusiastic because I have a suspicion he'd be really good, he is at most things he can be bothered with.

I like your hair pulled over into a deep parting, you look verryyyy pretty.

Also, I think it's cool that Huck has painted nails - my little brother went through a stage of insisting he wear my princess fairy fancy-dress outfits to nursery, no harm came of it!

  41. Did you have to get the dress altered? I have been searching for some lovely dresses like that, but they're all about a foot too long! Apparently the majority of the population is over 5'1. Bother.
