WHAT WOULD FELICITY PORTER WEAR // PART TWO

image via nina z

i've been thinking a lot about felicity porter this week. coming back to the city after being in portland has kind of felt like coming back to school after a really good but far too short summer vacation. it's been a bit of a bumpy reentry. especially with the weather. and the getting back to work part. and the weather.

on wednesday i'd sort of had it with everything in my life so i booked a sitter so i could take my thoughts for a walk. i ended up down in soho. i stopped in at dean & deluca for something warm in my hands and when i walked out those big heavy doors and peered up into the misty gray clouds--into where the sun ought to have been, really--and then glanced down across all those antique arches that soho is so famous for, it kind of settled the dust inside. can i be nerdy for a minute? i made peace with my inner felicity porter. you know how felicity spends the entirety of that show feeling completely overwhelmed with absolutely everything and making silly decisions and just feeling so dang much? that is me right now. one could call it "spinning." (in fact, one has called it "spinning," just very recently, to my face, because i am. spinning. and spinning is dumb.) there's something about downtown that just gets me. it's a little bit chaotic and completely a mess down there, but you can't look anywhere without seeing at least something really great. like that one time down there when i literally bumped into a white turtleneck and it ended up being diane keaton.

so it got me to thinking about what felicity porter would be up to these days were she a real person (don't tell me she's not a real person) and i concluded that she lives in brooklyn by now. and she's with noel, because as much as i love the bens of the world (i married a ben) these days i think she really belongs with the noel. (i can't really make up my mind on this one.) and then i remembered how i have a post to do this week with eBay and so here we are! a what would felicity porter be wearing right now sort of deal. just a little bit more grown up, just a little bit more sophisticated, but still our favorite overwhelmed, chaotic, spinny, frumpy felicity. you could also call it a what would natalie holbrook be wearing right now because the only way for me to channel felicity any harder right now would be if i were to start whispering "hey" at people, which i've never done, because i like to do more of a jerry seinfeld "helloooooooo!"

sweater // bralette // bag // clog // tee // jeans

i think my favorite word right now is bralette.

this post was part of a collaboration with eBay. #followitfindit

  3. i really loved Felicity's outfits... i kinda shared her body shape (I don't think I do now since she's had kids and... well, body changes!) and envied her clothes so much, all the time. everything looked great on her, in spite of the flat chest and being a bit short. like me! I also think she should be with Noel now. Ben was a pain in the neck (?).

  4. I just bought that exact tee (same color and everything) and it is soooo soft that the whole day I wore it, I was semi-obscenely feeling myself up. As long as you're cool with people side-eyeing you a bit, I'd totally recommend it.

  7. i am in the ben camp, lady. noel was the safe choice, she was never mad for him. she was bonkers for ben. the way you should be bonkers for a man or a lady. otherwise, what's the point of it all?

  8. I can't even. You're musings are too good. Keep wrestling with all those feelings Natalie. You're fighting the good fight with your thoughts and emotions. I know. I'm in the trenches too, wrestling often with the things that occupy my heart and mind. The good thing? We're getting somewhere great and the journey itself is great too. keep on keepin' on!

  12. I miss Felicity -- Keri Russel rocks in her new show The Americans....but I have to say her new character couldn't be the farthest thing from Felicity. xo

  16. Haha! I love this, Natalie. My friends called me Felicty in college because I had crazy curly hair, wore a lot of big sweaters, and I was an art major... Oh - and can't forget the birkenstock clogs. I still have a girl crush on Keri Russel (she's awesome in the Americans!). P.S. I've always been team Ben.
