The Sad Fact Is . . .

I stole this photo from my sister. Hi sister!

I haven't unpacked my blogging fingers yet. Are they in this box?

And these nesting hormones are no good unto me. They are demanding that I be unpacked yesterday. With everything spotless. And while I am at it they would much prefer if we had some air conditioning.

If there is one thing I had forgotten about New York City (aside from how terribly disappointing street pretzels are, every time), it is that in New York City you do a lot of waiting. For a city that never sleeps, everything seems to take a million years around here. I am constantly impressed at how long it takes to get anywhere when your main mode of transportation are two (very pregnant) legs.

Also astounding is how incredibly handsome Ben Affleck is in person.

New York over and out.

  2. Welcome back! I don't blame you at all for not posting more regularly; you've been busy!

Is Afleck really all that special in person? Now don't hate or anything, but he really just doesn't do it for me. (Probably because he's always the hero in most of his movies, and I'm so over that. Except maybe for "He's Just Not That Into You"--in that movie, he was darling AND delicious.

    Enjoy The City!

  3. Welcome back to blogging, Nat!

Congrats on your big move - how exciting! It sounds like you're having a blast in the big city. It's so fantastic that you're finding all of your dreams-come-true in NYC. (But isn't that every girl's dream, to live fabulously in the Big Apple?)

Best of luck with furnishing your new apt and the baby!

  4. I almost have to go back and reread your post with all those nonrealy words, which I do adore by the way. Tell Ben Affleck I said hi. And make sure you buy an uber lightweight stroller for all those stairs!

  9. Ohh, nine weeks?!! I've watched this blog throughout your pregnancy and it doesn't seem possible that time has flown so quickly by. (But maybe you feel otherwise?) Anyway, I'm sure I'm only one of many that is excited about baby Holbs.

And just for the record, your nonrealy words are part of what hooked me to your blog. Hilarious!

  11. BEn Affleck? ahhh, jealous. It seems all so cool- But I can also see how it would be miserable. not a couch? Isn't that a dear necessity when pregnant? I spend most my time there :) Miss ya

  12. Word on the street is you've been emailing my pal Al and we're going to rendezvous sooner rather than later. I am looking forward to it, as I need a BIG dose of nesting hormones, considering I just got home from two and a half months of camp life and have no interest in re-starting my "real" life. Anyhoo, don't worry about us--get yourself settled, then take more pictures of that apartment!

  14. You must have known the Mighty Spuds was finally going to stop by for a visit and you baked this post just for me! (That's the story my ego tells me) I'm glad to see you made the journey East safely, albeit with your nesting 'mones in high gear! Next time I'm up there tell Big Holbs I'm taking you both to dinner. I promise not to swear too much!

I've missed my "fat rat" fix! Be good!

  15. I've been doing A LOT of stroller searching lately myself. It seems lots of Moms in NYC love the Baby Jogger City Mini for the light weight and easy fold.

  16. I have been tragically, incurably in love with Ben Affleck since I was 16 years old (12 years...wow! that's, like, longer than some celebrity marriages). I cannot watch a movie featuring Ben without getting a big, dumb, embarrassingly obvious puppy-love smile on my face that irritates the hell out of my husband. (Though he does the same over Marion Cotillard, even if he won't admit it.) So, tell Ben I said hi, okay? And that if Jennifer ever gets tired of him and Karl somehow walks in front of a bus, he'll know whom to call. And yes, his role in "He's Just Not That Into You" was beyond adorable. It took me DAYS to stop wishing I was Jennifer Aniston. Or at least to pretend I'd stopped wishing I was her.

  19. Heh. Your nonsensical posts are always fun and make perfect nonsense! ; ) 9 weeks. oh my heck! And I'm still so jealous/excited that you saw Ben. He (and Josh Dumahl and Ryan Reynolds) makes me smile. : )

And golly, get a window unit already? or a window fan. Or something! Babymama needs AC!

  20. Brilliant. Love your fantatic words. Glad you're getting back into the stride of NYC and blogging again!

Just dying to see more photos of your new place! Love the green retro bathroom. It is dear to my heart - my little 1940's house came complete with pink formica countertops (everywhere), a pink tub, toilet and sink and that self-same shade of green retro-ness as yours - for tiles in the shower.

& BTW - the stroller Mr. Affleck was using was probably one of those crazy $10k strollers... not even kidding! $10k! My sis and I were stroller shopping for my nephew and came across those suckers... WOW. I hope they change diapers and nanny too for $10k.
