HUCK THE GREAT ORATOR

huck has plenty to say these days. the dude only has about six words in english, but it doesn't hold him back. most times when i try and get him to repeat words with me he'll look at me very scornfully. like, "why would i stop the perfectly stimulating conversation we're having to repeat silly one-syllable words at you? come on now."  i suppose it's my fault for always acting like i understand what he's saying.

related: the other day on the subway we were having quite the in-depth conversation when huck noticed that the lovely woman sitting next to us was giving him some attention. so he turned to her and continued his nonsense yammering (complete with hand motions and very eloquent facial expressions). she nodded and smiled at him, then looked up and over to her husband and started speaking in spanish. huck got this look on his face like, "what language is THAT!?" but you know who speaks the nonsense language here? that would be YOU, huck. not the nice spanish lady.

so i snuck this little video the other day. it is cute. and you're going to enjoy it. i promise.

how great is his monkey-like dismount from the bed.
it's one of my most favorite things in the whoooole world.

(is that a nursing bra on the floor? yes it is. you're welcome!)

  4. AH! Super cute! And he needs to teach his monkey-like dismount to my 15mo old who generally just tries to walk straight off the bed, thelma and louise style.

  10. oh man, I miss my little one speaking gobbledygook. Huck is too stinking cute for words. I know I shouldn't say this, because I have a child of my own, but seriously, that boy is the cutest little thing I've ever seen.

  13. I love it! Huck's body shape and personality totally remind me of my oldest boy (now 6 years old WHAT?) He spoke Huck's language for sure. When he was about 2, he got a red sharpie and drew at kid level all over his closet doors. When I asked him what it said he spoke the gobbledy-gook in great detail and gestured with his hand, and then for good measure he threw in "two, seben, two, seben, dog, seben, two"
    What's not to love?

  16. My kids were very entertained watching Huck. My daughter wanted to know "Who's that boy?" And when he walked out the door my son said "Go? Mommy, go?" It all made me smile and miss the days my kids used to jibber jab :)

  19. Cute. Love the head shaking! He looks a little less like a big boy in his tshirt with his cute little chub legs peeking out underneath.

Sidenote: How many sheep skins do you have. I'm envious. ;)

  23. There is a very lyrical quality to his conversing. And with the rhythmic hand motions to go with it, I am predicting the next great rap star. My 14 month daughter took some time off of whining to be transfixed by this.
    SOOOO cute!

  29. This totally reminded me of that famous youtube video "jessica's daily affirmation". The one with the little curly blonde girl listing (in the mirror) all the things she likes about her life. I'm sure Huck was saying the same kind of stuff! So cute.

My 17 month old son came running in from outside when he heard Huck. He keeps yelling at me to replay it but, I got to stop it sometime, right?

  32. Ohh maaii gawwwsh. I just watched that 2 times in a row.

At the 30 second marker I thought he was going to do a somersault dismount for a moment. That would have been awesome.

Do you do the pursed lips thing when you are thinking out loud? Because Huck is adorable when he does that.

  33. so stinkin' cute. my very own real life toddlersat on my lap while i played this and when it ended he said "adain puhwease, adain ohhh bayybwee". Apparently they speak the same language.

  46. He is too stinkin cute. My little is 20 1/2 months and in the last two months it's been an explosion of words! She wants to know what everything is and tell you what everything is. But I still savor those moments where she has full on conversations of straight up baby babble.
