TAKE A RIDE ON THE WONDER WHEEL

oh coney island. well, it's kiiiiind of disgusting, but it's also kind of charming and sweet.

also we did watch a man insert a spoon into his nose on the sidewalk. i mean, that was worth the hour train ride out there for sure.

p.s. huck on the train ride home.

  1. SO DARLING! Anytime a movie has coney island in it, I die a little inside. It looks so fun! Kind of like the East Coast's version of the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Only I think Coney Island came first. But anyway. Adorable pictures!

  10. I'm in love with those pictures of you and Huck! Those overalls are so cute--I feel like those pictures will be ones that he looks back at when he's 40 and will think: "Wow, my mom is so beautiful."

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO SMALL? I want those platform shoes, but I have giant feet now that I have had a baby.

  13. I went to Coney Island on my trip to NYC last year...I loved how it was run-down and a bit old-skool (I do wish I'd seen the guy with the spoon up his nose though).

  18. hehe, I think part of the appeal and charm of Coney Island is just how very grimy it is.

that said, I can't believe you managed to capture such beautiful pictures of the place. Like how!? It's so gross!

  25. FUN!! My grandfather (who is Italian) grew up on Hudson and Canal in NYC and tells stories of weekend trips to Coney. When I read your blog, I realize what a historic place NYC is and how many people forget that. I always enjoy your blog because I feel like you really appreciate New York. My grandfather moved to SC where he met my grandfather (and had 6 children) but NYC was always home. And he's go back to Little Italy and walk into some of the same old shops and recognize old-timers who'd call him "Lenny!" And the stories! Oh the stories!

    I love reading yours too!

  36. I was so stoked to score some of your cool clothing but alas you are a shade smaller than I am. Boo! The aquarium and Coney Island are totally worth that L-O-N-G train ride at least once a summer. Any more than that and I nearly go crazy with the "Are we there yets?" Lovely photos, lovely family, lovely you!
