DECISIONS

It seems to me lately like maybe decision-making is not my strong suit.

Well, sometimes I am really good at decision-making. Like one time I decided I should never wear earrings that dangle, and not to toot my own horn or anything but that decision alone has spared me countless hours of unnecessary accessories shopping.

But actually I am horrible at making decisions, and I know this for a fact because last week we made a doozy of a decision. Last week Brandon got a job offer.  A JOB. OFFER.

Well, actually, he got two. Two job offers!

Now, one job offer is fun, but two job offers? Two job offers is an ulcer waiting to happen, Steve.

We had two jobs to decide between, and also two cities.

Anyway, we made a decision. Well, Brandon made a decision. I threw my hands up and decided to turn off my brain until things were more settled, because that is just my right as a human being.

The point is, The Holbrooks are employed!

And we're staying in New York!

AND MY HUSBAND HAS A JOB!

  1. Super exciting! You seem to be happy in NYC, so it seems to be a good decision. The job isn't worth it if you aren't happy where you are. Congratulations!

Oh, and I noticed that you capitalized your letters...you must feel very passionate about this ;)

  2. Congratulations on the employment!

I got kind of excited about the Seattle part because then you'd be closer to where I live and I thought, maybe I could actually one day meet you?? GASP. But then I thought, who is going to tell me about the wonders of The City if natthefatrat.com up and moves to the Pacific Northwest.

So I am glad you are staying in New York.

And I also still hope to meet you someday :)

  5. Yay for employment and as one of the lovely other commentors said, big fat yay for solvency! Oh how it does rock! I'm looking very forward to some new outfit posts/decorating posts as a result of said solvency. Good things will come of this, I'm sure. Congrats to the Holbsworker!

  13. Happiness abounds! Huge congrats on the job, and aren't we glad that we have husbands to make those icky decisions for us? Such men.

  14. I got super excited when I saw Seattle and was going to do my very best to convince you, while also cautioning that there is, as you know, a dire Shake Shack deficit in this part of the country, and I've yet to see such a delightfully green bathroom here in the Emerald City. The Pacific Northwest loves you, Holbsfam, but New York sounds like the place for you! Congrats!!

  15. I can totally relate to your excitement. I look forward to the day when we too are done with the studentricious arts and have an actual PAYING job offer (where they pay us, not the reverse). Congrats, and I can't wait to read about your continued adventures in N.Y.C.

  41. is it odd to be so incredibly happy for someone you don't know? borderline creepy even? i'm sure it is - but what the hell - i'm so happy for you and your family! you've become one of my all-time fave bloggers! oh, and i loved your guest-post on the rockstar diaries! congrats all around!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yay! Congrats, Natalie. That must be a relief. I'm sure your parents must be a teensy bit sad about not having you closer (Seattle = 3 hour drive, though a three-hour drive with a toddler can feel like a 3-day drive), but seriously? Seattle's awesome. NYC might be awesomer. (No, that's not a word. But who cares?!) You seem like a NYC sort of girl! Congratulations, too, Brandon. I know the company you're now with is the best of the best. :) From what I hear, you've earned it!

  43. Congrats Natalie!!!!
NY is far but you seem so perfect for it!

  44. woot! congrats to the holbsemployee! and to staying in NY, because oh my goodness can you imagine having to move AGAIN w/ a huckinfant and two dogalicious pups? ; ) well, actually, you'll have to do that soon anyway when you find a new apt, but at least you won't have to go through airport security pat downs for that!

    love!

  45. Oh, I'm so relieved. I was afraid you were moving to Seattle, and then I would have to spend this entire comment talking you out of it, and then I would feel very guilty for trying to talk you out of a decision that the Holy Spreadsheets had firmly decided, and I have I ever told you how alike your Holbsy and my Jeremy are? Holy Spreadsheets indeed!

But I'm glad you're not leaving, and I'm glad you're EMPLOYED! Hooray for the Holbsearner!!!!

Seriously, Holbsman, congratulations on blowing those interviews out of the water! I'm so happy for you slash proud of you!

And you know what else? I noticed, and I'm grinning so big over it. Hooray for caps! Ah, my heart is at ease once again. :-)

  46. CONGRATULATIONS! Yay Holbs! (and how lucky is NY that they get to keep you!?!) :)

  47. Congrats Natalie!! We've come along way from our days at the Schweezy, have we not? I still enjoy reading your blog. Do you have Tiffany's email? She's still at SEL, and would probably love to hear from you. Sometimes when I'm in Moscow I drive by your old house on my way out to visit a friend at work and I always say hello to the horses! I kind of feel like i live in a famous neighborhood haha. So happy for you and your whole family on the job offer! Seems like just yesterday I saw you all at the Farmers Market after his Graduation from the U of I!

  48. Congratulations!!!!
But now I am terribly hungry, what with all the talk of sauces simmering and mushrooms sauteing..
    But really, great news!

  49. Congrats! Although I would have LOVED to read your spin on our Emerald City, I can definitely understand wanting to stay in your green bathroom palace in the sky. :)
