A Report Of Varied Uninterestingness

Last night I dreamt I was a Kardashian. (I was the Kourtney.)

Brandon the youth leader went camping over the weekend. He went with an army of Boy Scouts and came home completely intact. No knife or axe accidents, no campfire burns, not even any danged hypothermia or frostbite. Just some stubble.

It is orange!

While The Holbscout was camping, the dogs and I did absolutely nothing. We made fort on the sofa. I crocheted some granny squares. Peter Pan invented and then solved a complex mathematical theorem. I drank a lot of San Pellegrino. Barnaby licked his paws and yawned. I did a lot of thoughtful thinking regarding Ice Dancing and the necessity thereof. (I am not convinced.) Then we went to bed.

I slept in the middle of the bed and for once I woke up with plenty of covers.

Gosh this is difficult.

What else . . .

Oh!

Nope, false alarm.

  1. oh sun I crave, I miss the days when I lived in Florida and had a bit of a tan all year long. We got more snow just last night, so now there's nothing to do but take my coffee, my dogs, my book and return to my bed

  2. We had a sunny week here in PA, too! Today, not so much, but of course, now we're spoiled so it just seems extra dreary!!

    Thanks for the smile!

  3. I am so jealous. We have been at the in-laws house in Canada for over a week now. It's pretty cold here in Canada. Right now a minor blizzard is getting started. On the plus side, I got to gloat A LOT last night when the US men's hockey team beat Canada!

  4. The sun makes all the difference when it squeaks through the clouds for an appearance. Here in Michigan, that is a rare occasion. But it's a snow day here today, which means I don't have to go to work, so I'll take that over some stinkin sunshine!

  5. it was sunny here too last week. When it's sunny in february, I refuse to use my sun visor in the car. I want to suck up any ray of sunshine February gives. So i squint...and say to hell with wrinkles....I"ll take wrinkles in exchange for sun. When I get home, after my 1/2 hour commute, my face is hot....and pink, but it's the best kinda warmth, that which SHINES on you, isn't it?!

  6. ps ~ this post was 870 words. I think it's safe to say that your blogger's block is not quite as severe as one might think with said condition! ;)

  7. After we got done chatting I watched the entire thing to the finale. Scott is a colossal douche is he not?

And that baby was cute. I loved that she pulled him out. Go Kortnie (or however you spell your name...)

  9. I miss Mr. Sun...it's been awhile since he's been showing his face here in Oklahoma. I miss Florida where the sun was not so much into hiding. I'm being forced to the tanning beds...I need the light!!!!

  10. I miss the sun too! For some reason he has yet to make it to New Jersey where I live. Instead, we have been sitting under a zillion feet of snow for weeks now. I can't wait until the day when Mr. Sun comes out, melts it all, and makes it warm enough to go to the beach!

  11. If I've learned anything from reading your blog, it's that even the mundane ain't so mundane when you talk about it. I mean, for crying out loud, you live in rural Idaho (is that super repetative of me to say? Idaho, the entire state, is rural, right?), yet the way you write, it sounds so quaint and lovely.

And PS, I saw nothing wrong with your weekend. Those laid-back weekends are fabulous, though, aren't they? Mine was super laid-back too. Mostly because I was babying an oncoming head cold. But still.

PPS I used to wish I was a boy when I was growing up. Partially because they got to pee standing up, perhaps. Also, I was surrounded by boys; two on either side of me in my family. Now I'm pretty glad I'm a girl. Even though I'm not quite to the stage of reproducing and mothering fat, gurgly babies.

    Good post.

  12. (Clearing my throat...) Here in Tennessee we had our first sunny weekend in over two months so we took the top off the pool and we had our first pool party in 45 degree weather. (Thank goodness it's heated) Tell Holbs to get a job where you can swim in February! It was SO awesome!!

  13. I hear you on the boob thing. To prove it to you, I passed up a Juicy Couture ruched one-piece swimsuit I tried on at Nordstorm Rack this weekend. Price was $70, down from $170. It exaggerated my utter lack of boobage, so back on the rack it went. Booo.

  15. I used to wish I was a boy when I was younger, I'm the only girl in the family. I even tried going pee while standing up when I was 5, it didn't work out so well.

And seriously, the sunshine, love that guy-uv rays and all, in february. It's almost 50 here today, my spring cleaning project are motivated in the most fabulous way!

  16. Mmmmm, stubble is delicious! And THE SUN!! OH! THE SUN!! I saw him for two whole days last week. And now it is snowing again and will be for the next seven days.

  17. Mr.Sun made a brief appearance here too, but now he is gone again, and it is awfully wintry outside today! Blah!

I sure enjoyed your post, I don't think you have a case of blogck at all! It's kind of Seinfeld-ish in a way (I hope you don't mind my saying so, I love Seinfeld) - a show about "nothing"!

  18. I've heard many a story about boy scout camp outs. No I do NOT wish I were one. Yikes! We have had some glorious sun here, too. I LOVE it!

  19. I know that the grass is always greener on the other side and all that BUT...big boobs aren't all they're cracked up to be.
    1) Running with two bras on to keep the girls comfortable = twice the cost, twice as many straps to pull back up whilst running.
    2) Cute bras don't come in anything larger than a C cup. Skeptical? Just look at those racks some time, live out the kardashian fantasy and shop for lovely rounded bits sizes...you will be shunned to the granny bra section (sad). It's a frightful combination of lace and extreme coverage (practically up to the collarbone).
    3) After having lovely gurgly babies, well, let's just say it'll be much nicer to get bigger if you start off a wee bit smaller :)
    4) Running down stairs, not even an option.

  21. Just an FYI - I looked up our snowfall for last year, and after the last blizzard of January we had accumulated 64.5" of snow. This year? The studded snow tires met their fate last Friday and the silent, smooth sound of summer is now beneath my vehicle. Do let us all know when your tulips break ground!
