  2. I think it's sad Peter Pan eats socks for attention now that there is a baby in the house. A new home would probably be better for him.

  3. @amberly, he's always eaten socks (or tried to, we're usually better at catching them before they make it down the chute). when he was three months old he ate a hanky, and when he was five months old he ate and puked up an entire stuffed dog toy. still, you may be right.

  4. Oh gosh. This story is farrrrrr to familiar. I've got a golden retriever pup who has barely escaped death several times due to his hunger for towels and socks. Sooo much money we've spent to deal with his cravings. Did I mention he just turned 1!!!

  5. my dog has escaped death several times but he's been sick once (caught kennel cough from a dog at the park), impaled himself on something another time while playing and then he ate something that caused him to be sick for days. he's still fine. perhaps a feline in his ancestry that he inherited nine lives from.

  7. Living in NYC is physically and emotionally demanding as it is. Living in NYC with pets is masochistic. Living in NYC with pets and a baby? Downright lunacy. But...it's certainly an adventure.

Might I suggest moving to Queens (it's really lovely here!) or back to BK once your lease is up? Space would do wonders for your adorable party of five.

  8. of course there was the time he heaved so hard we thought he lost his intestines, only to discover it was pink thong underware! ? !

  10. My dog likes to eat things, and acts like she is totally unloved. But she is. I think Peter is just being dramatic. Or stupid. No matter how much attention I pay to my dog, she still eats glue sticks and hauls around my underwear. It's just who she is.

  11. Did you mean this to be funny? Because that was very funny...:) Glad he's okay!

  12. Oh, I'm so glad The Pan prevailed!

With all the crazy he's eaten, I want to say he's a goat, stuck in the body of an adorable doggy. I'm not wrong, am I?

  13. I think Pete and our old dog Rocky are related. Rocky was not happy unless he ate at least one diaper/tampon/pull up a day. He was a great, although disgusting, dog.

  14. Who knew dogs had nine lives too! Very happy he was able to puke that sock up :-)

  15. HOLY COW! this same thing happened to my dog, I thought he was the only dog in the world stupid enpugh to eat whole socks, i guess i was wrong. but we had to have our dogs tummy sock surgically removed, and it cost a fortune. we have been extra careful not to leave socks on the floor anymore, glad to hear your dog got rid of his sock!

  17. peter pan is such a little drama queen!(/king.)

  18. Strong stomach. Maybe socks are a dogs version of a diet pill...although he doesn't look like he needs to lose weight. Is your dog anorexic?

  19. I feel guilty saying this, but I found this post hilarious. Thanks to you and Peter Pan for todays giggle. Are you sure he isn't a goat?

  20. My dog May, did the same thing to us. She ate my husband's sport sock when she was about a year old. I was frantically worried for a couple of days, then after about a week, up came the sock!

  21. My goodness! Dogs and drama huh? I send your Babble link on this topic to my sis who is 22 weeks pregnant now and is constantly debating whether or not to keep her furbaby. She L♥VES her furbaby -- we ALL do! But when human babies are involved... I totally see your point. Tough stuff.

  22. PS... My aunt had a Chesapeake Bay Retriever once - a BIG dog - who ate a sock and POOPED it out. Except it didn't come all the way out and he was in some serious distress about it. So she had to help pull it out. Yes... gross. Maybe we should all be thankful that Petey took this one into his own paws. lol

  23. I was going to buy a dog. Every story I hear about dogs is usually disgusting. Now, I'm not so sure.

  24. SOOOOO.....i know that Petey is quite the mischievous little thing, and he really should start watching his figure. I mean. Come on. Socks. They go straight to your hips! Also. I have missed him. In all his Pan Glory. Pan's the Man. And Barney? I mean. Really. You got some pretty spectactular canine's there. Handful and all. I have a theory....we wouldn't love them as much if they were perfect ALL the time...right? That's all.

    I'm glad Pan is okay.

  25. I think Peter might have a very special stomach, that is the only explanation I can think for the non bursting that keeps happening at your house.

  26. First I am relieved Peter Pan is okay...but would you please, please not drop socks on the floor?

  27. I almost shed a tear for poor Pete. Especially since I just dreamed last night that my own little spartacus died suddenly (in the dream I lamented that I wouldn't see him with his summer haircut, made to make him look like a lion). I'm happy Pete made it through - even if for a lack of space.

  28. Poor little Petey! I would have cried and cried if he died. No more socks!

  29. I'm sorry I laughed, Pan, but you really did deserve it. Glad you're still alive. Better luck next time.

  30. Ha! Way to go big Pete! Lol

  31. My pup loves towels. And sweatpants (the BEhind portion only). And, grossest of all, underwear. Only WE'RE so lucky that he doesn't puke it up, it comes out the other end. Pulling out huge pieces of cloth when it gets...stuck? AWESOME.

  32. i had three dogs of the same breed as peter pan! the one we have right now lives with my mom, and her name is buttercup. they are the BEST. i'm glad peter pan survived the sock.

  33. You are a lucky duck! My dog ate two rocks...one right after the other...and I couldn't bear to tell my 3 year old his puppy was going to die...so I spent the $1500 for the surgery.
