  6. Well in Australia we've been wearing them for years.. A few winters ago they were very on trend but now, those of us with taste only wear them at home! Here, if worn out of the home it's officially 'bogan' wear (translation: trailer trash) hahaha.

  7. haha, that was hilarious, my husband will love it cause he hates uggs, especially in the warmer weather when girls where them with mini skirts...
however i'm sorry I will still wear them to keep warm with my leggings...and I do have elephant feet without them!
but i but them at costco each year, trash them and save them for camping in the summer when it's cold out....

  8. As long as you are wearing them because it is SNOWING outside and your feet will freeze otherwise, it's okay. They really are warm and great in the winter, But worn as a fashion statement or in good weather; BAD BAD BAD!

I used to wear them on my way to work and then change into real shoes once I arrived. Thats the right and only way to wear them!

  9. when I moved in with my boyfriend and he found out that I had a pair of Uggs (from my teenage mall stomping years) he was horrified. haha.

  10. Haha! I just bought some last week! Don't shame me, Natalie! I'm glad to know at least 10 girls in NY think I'll be ok. :D

  11. Oh, goodness. I refused too. for years. Terrible cold winters... I finally gave in a couple of years ago. Now I have 3 pairs. They are ugly, but they are sooooo warm and comfy, my favorite use for them is wearing them to church in winter, and then changing to heels last minute. Yum. I also used to refuse leggings, mac computers, ipods, and skinny jeans. So....

  12. ok. i get it. they're horrible.

but... when i was pregnant last winter and couldn't reach my feet, my wonderful husband figure purchased a pair for me. it was love at first touch. i didn't have to bend or pull. just a slip and my feet were cozy as could be.

i mean, i live in chicago here, people. it's freakin' cold. if you're sad about new york winters, visit chicago. it will make you feel better. trust me.

  13. I hated Uggs when they became popular in SOUTHERN ALABAMA like 8 years ago. (Seriously, fuury boots? In Southern Alabama?)

I hated Uggs and other yeti-like boots that all the girls were wearing in Utah. I don't care if they keep your feet warm. My long johns keep me warm, but I don't let everyone see them. Wear wool socks.

and after enduring 2 NY winters, I still hate Uggs. I'm glad someone else has some sense.

  14. Oh my I love that video! Total SNL skit right there.

  15. Fa-reaking hilarious. I hate Uggs. They're...fUGGly, for lack of a better description. There are many, MANY lined boots out there that actually look nice. BUY A PAIR!!! Or wear regular boots with some warm socks underneath!!! Yikes!

  16. LOL. oh man. that last line is the best. thanks for this.

  17. I would LOVE to hear about the lined boots out there that are warm, affordable, and comfy. I live in Wisconsin and I buy a pair of Ugg boots every winter - I can trash them through the snow and keep my feet warm and dry and not slip on the ice. Chunk them at the end of the season and move on to flip flops!! No, they're not a fashionable choice, but sometimes you've got to choose function.

  18. LOL! I almost succumbed, thank you for warning me!!

  19. Haha, never have I been an owner or liker of Ugg Boots... "elephant feet" is the perfect description. It is true though, they do look comfy, but hey, so are Sorel's and they are MUCH more fashionable.

  20. Hahahahaha! They are truly hideous... but like the last girl said - they're so comfortable! I "borrowed" a pair from my sister that she "borrowed" from my mom, and I only let myself wear them in the house... for the most part.

"Uggcitrin does not protect against cervical cancer." Best part.

  21. i wear them...they are ugg-ly. aptly named, but when it's 7 below and there are sheets of ice on everything i will forsake the cuteness for super comfy and warm.

  22. Speaking of boots, wherever did you find the brown leather ones you are wearing in the previous post and in the "Fall" post? I've been looking all over for a pair just like them!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes. There is no reason for Uggs. I grew up in Minnesota. I live in Boston. I know all about cold, freezing winters. There is no reason for Uggs. There is never an appropriate reason to wear them out of the house, and they're pretty expensive for slippers.

They're warm you say? So are so many other pairs of boots. I have a pair of Sorels that are amazingly warm. And waterproof around the foot. And comfortable. And they look awesome. Uggs make zero sense. They aren't meant for snow or slush - they're made of suede! They're not waterproof. You can't wear them in the rain. They look horrible at the end of the winter because they are not designed to handle snow. Plus they are expensive.

    Senseless. Senseless, I say.

  24. Uggs are never meant to be worn outside the home. Australians only wear them indoors. They're indoor slippers. It's Australia's joke on America.

  25. My husband and I laughed so hard watching that. Thank you!!!

  26. Oh, but have you ever slipped your bare feet (YES! Bare feet, even in the dead of winter, even on the coldest day) into a pair of UGGS? I suspect not. I agree that they are something of an epidemic but I love them. I also have Sorels and other boots and they tend to make your feet sweaty. It is no fun shopping and trying on shoes with sweaty socks, no? So yeah, I just took a walk to the library pushing my Finn in his stroller, proudly sporting my UGGS, and it was good. My feet are still generating heat despite the blustery day.
