A LITTLE ALT SUMMIT RECAP

photo via moss + isaac

i was asked to speak at alt summit this year and i was thrilled to accept.

the entire conference from top to bottom was lovely. the sponsors, the speakers, the atmosphere, all was full of love and support and generosity, and the grand america was grand indeed. good job salt lake.

aside from speaking, i was mostly there to see friends. i saw them all, and even got a bonus case of the stomach flu (thus ending my 21 year streak, let's not even talk about it, i am so disappointed with myself).

me + alison at the white party photo booth, isn't she fancy?

if you're thinking of attending next year, do it. you'll have a great time. and try to book a hotel in salt lake city if you can, because driving in from the 'burbs was a dumb idea.

p.s. i am wearing:
glasses: lookmatic fdr prescription frames
scarf: my mama's couch
baseball tee: forever 21
tutu-riffic: shabby apple (appears to be sold out?)
shoes: zara (red sticker still attached, classy)
clutch: jcrew
lipstick: revlon just bitten--passion

  3. I love the outfit! I wish I could have gone to Alt, mostly just to meet you. In my list of must-read blogs, you are my Dooce. You are inspirational Miss Natalie, and don't ever stop living your dreams.

  4. Your outfit is amazing.
I really wanted to go this year but we had a lot of other financials come up instead. I finally told my husband about it this past weekend. He had no idea that bloggers got together and stuff. Then he asked me why I didn't go, I told him the price. He was a little dumbfounded.
But hopefully next year I will get to go. I really want to go, meet wonderful women and learn some new stuff as well.
    Anyways, that's all.

  8. I'm obsessed with your outfit and how you don't look like a little girl while wearing a tutu. If I did that, it would be bad. hahaha

  9. That picture certainly IS trending on Pinterest and for good reason my dear! Look at you? Plus you made that scarf from leftovers from your mom's couch? That kind of blogger ingenuity must be celebrated. Also, tutu.

  10. I agree with Shannon! Maybe next year alt will be in my cards. LOVE the scarf made out of couch material.

  11. I truly feel your pain over the stomach flu. Every single person in my family has been sick for a week (no barfing yet, though a few small people came close). The entire freaking valley has been suffering from it, methinks. I'm still holding strong on my 20-year streak, thank goodness, but who knows when I'll have to step down? Ugh. I'm sad I didn't get to see you while you were here, but hey, at least we had hallway time at church on Christmas, right? :)

  41. Not only must I now purchase a tutu, I must also find an appropriate occasion to wear it. It's perfect on you!

  42. There is a good reason that photo is trending. I actually wanted to include it myself in a recap of photos that I liked because I enjoyed your ensemble when I saw it in person.

Sorry I didn't get to formally meet you at ALT..maybe next year??

  47. Natalie your outfit is UN-REAL. It's honestly the cutest thing I've ever seen-- the casualness of a sporty sexy baseball tee + your red lips and geek chic glasses + THE MOST AMAZING TULLE SKIRT I'VE EVER SEEN?!?!?! I want to sleep and dream and play in this exact outfit, like every day. What a DREAM!!! What is it about girls and tulle? Seriously I'm horrible at commenting but I saw this outfit and my fingers involuntarily jolted into commenting-mode because I couldn't NOT comment on what a creative and adorable ensemble you put together....you are a legitimate fashion blogger!! Like, you always joke about how you live on a street (or at least near a bunch) of fashion bloggers who are always out getting their pictures taken and you feel silly and this and that, but this outfit is better than anything I've seen on a true "fashion blog." I live and breathe fashion and write about it for Refinery 29, and I AM OBSESSED with what you put together here. Can you tell? I just wrote a novel. You have really really good fashion sense. You need to post more outfits!!!!!!!!!!! K that's it. Thanks.

  54. Um, could you be any cuter?! I just found your blog and am kind of obsessed...mostly because we share the same name...and nickname (obviously). Your picture in that outfit is everywhere, as I'm sure you've noticed! You're like the poster child of the Alt Summit white party. This is the only post I've read so far, but can I just say it...I love you. Too soon? Nah!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Honestly, you looked amazing. And I love your, "just threw this old outfit together" attitude. It's admirable!! I feel like this photo is going to be on the cover of blogger materials for alt for years to come! You're awesome that you were able to nurse your son through the conference. Pretty amazing!!

  59. Hold on... I've gotta hop over to Pinterest to repin and like that picture of you. HA But seriously why would there be any doubt in your mind how awesome that picture is. Gorgeous! Also, I may have went out and bought some pink skinnies because of that outfit in the park that you wore. I have the faux fur vest. That outfit's on like Donkey Kong!

  60. I am in love with tu-tu's. Seriously. I am going to buy myself some and not talk myself out of wearing them. Maybe I can make some like the ones I make for babies...hmmm my little brain is spinning...

Oh and I love that picture of you.

I am definitely going to go to Alt next year.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I was wearing that same exact tutu at the white party. How did we miss each other? I would have loved to have met you in person but I'm happy to know your blog now. Alt was just the greatest. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Have a great weekend!

  62. Adorable. And jealous. And adorably jealous. Can I admit that I want to start blogging seriously just so I can be friends with all of yous? And I know CK too! Isnt she grand? We were in singles wards together and stuff. It's been a few years, and a husband and a baby each (I'm assuming that she has had hers by now?) probably since I've actually seen her, but I still covet her hair. And all those dresses.
Also, husbands having to bar study is the pits. Good luck to the Holbs. Mine is contemplating not doing it ever again.

  64. Ok, I'm officially mad at you for not letting me know you were in town. I realize you're super big-time now, but I'm sad. Don't give me that "it was a super quick trip into town" bizness, I CANNOT BE REASONED WITH. Logic has no place here lady.

  65. Your mom has a leopard print couch? Say what!? You need to post a picture of that bad boy, stat.
