YOU CAN ALWAYS GO . . . DOWNTOWN

 today started out uptown.

we were headed to the subway for a meeting

once our meeting was over, huck and i looked at each other and at the crisp blue sky and asked ourselves,

why go home?

huck makes a rad partner in crime, it must be said.

while we were in the flatiron we happened upon a burrito joint.
a little hole in the wall that i'm sure thousands of people call their favorite,
but to us it felt like a discovery.
like we were there first.

(this city has a way of making you feel that way, i guess.)

it was real good.
and al pastor, i vote yes.

and then, somehow,
i managed to wander past this place?

i don't know, it's like a magnet.

we took the subway home at west fourth once the sun was starting to set,
and i noticed the freedom tower is juuust about finished.

it was a really good day today.
hope yours was just as lovely.

  2. Blue skies were everywhere today. We normally don't brave the cold winds but when we felt the warm air we had to go outside and play. My girl rode her princess tricycle all the way around the block. It was a dream Tuesday in January.

  8. ahh. just came through the subway at the freedom tower on saturday. hadn't been there in so long. the progress made me just stand still for a second. and diego garcia, scarpetta's pasta, the highline ballroom and wandering around chelsea just made me...happy. so happy.

  12. oh, the West 4th stop...that used to be "my" stop. I miss NYC. Except that I sort of don't at the same time (not the high rent, and loud noises, and small spaces, certainly not grad school). I'm OK experiencing it vicariously through you for now, so thanks:)

  15. Weird! I just blogged a nearly identical post this morning about wandering around LA. It even had the same ending! Great minds must think alike :)

  16. Your partner of crime has the perfect fact for getting you out of any situation--lucky you!

And its weird how my favourite shops are like magnets too--they are clever those shop people!

  18. Ooh! I'm so jealous of you being in NY! I think I may come there for graduate school! One thing I don't know if I could get used to though would be pepsi!

  20. What a lovely day. I can't wait to have a partner in crime to wander around with all day, I hate to do it by myself.

  24. Unle Moe's! Awesome burritos. I used to work across the street from there. Not a good thing. If you go back though, their quesadillas are huge and delicious!
