this is one of those really long and self-indulgent type posts, but it was fun for me to look back on all the things we did this year, so here are a few of my favorite photos 2011.

  1. What a terrific year for you and yours! My favorite part, though? When you called the boy "Sir Huckles." Ha! I laughed and loved all at the same time!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope 2012 is every bit as wonderful for you!

  2. Love it! You're such a great inspiration, as a wife, mother, person - it's a joy to read your writing and share in the love you feel for your family and life. The world would be a better place with more people in it like you. I'm excited for my own 2012 and to see what it brings to you. Happy New Year!

  6. Happy New Year! And Go Cougs!!! I found your blog several months ago when you had a Studio J give away and have followed you ever since. I enjoy your posts, love living vicariously in New York through you, and think your son is adorable. I was happily surprised this morning to see your husband wearing a "Bookie" shirt in the first picture. I too am a Coug and now feel that we are even more kindred spirits. May the New Year bring you much happiness! ~Amy

  10. Nat, I just want to let you know how much I enjoy your blog! Reading this today I realized it's been about a year since I discovered you, through that Salon article. I am sooo glad about it too, you were right away my favorite blog to read and have stayed that way ever since! I love the ridiculous way you write (this is a compliment, if only I was that fun!) and how you are always making fun and interesting things happen. It's totally a choice to make our lives this way and I admire you for being so adventurice, especially with a new baby, (it's easy to disappear into a hole that first year, Yay for you for not doing that!) It's helped me to be that way more and explore our city with my boys. I think all your nicknames for your Holbsies are fantastic, too, There are so many things I could say that are great about your blog but if I went on it might start to sound a little creepy :P
Thank you for being a happy and uplifting place to come and read and think and help me make my life a little brighter each day.
    You rock!

  29. Such a good year! I just read that WoW post and almost died. It is hilarious. And it is funny until you are married and your spouse gets addicted to it. & you have to get a divorce. But then it's funny again!

  30. Natalie! I have loved (really loved) reading your blog this year. I really think that you have the best blog voice and the cutest family (probably mostly because of Huck, but I'm sure you already knew that). Really, this year your blog has become my most favorite blog and I always look forward to and love reading it. I can't wait to read about next year from your entertaining, wonderfully written point of view.

    XXOO & thank you

  36. Ok, so I just happened upon your insta-profile Natalie, and have followed it through to your blog.

I've read way too many posts of yours from my iPhone and now my eyes are squinty and sore.

But I really wanted to tell you that I've really enjoyed every bit of it. And I think your (often maniacle) writing is *quite* entertaining, and that you generally seem like a pretty cool chick.

I'm glad I came upon it. (I was going to say, '...glad I stumbled upon it', but decided against it, in case you thought I meant Stumbleupon. I didn't mean that.)

Wishing you and yours a wonderfully beautiful 2012.

    X jessica
