the little puffy shoulders is what gave them away

Henry Holbrook woke up on the morning of Christmas Eve wearing pajamas that were simply too tight.

"I could have sworn these fit you last night!" his mother exclaimed as she greeted Henry Holbrook in his crib. Henry Holbrook scrunched his legs up tight to his chest, and reached his arms high for the heavens, and he smiled his goofy lopsided smile as his mother lifted him out of his warm bed.

And so Henry Holbrook's mother took him out on the town to find new Christmas pajamas. What a lucky duck.

But when everyone got home for the afternoon and those pajamas received closer inspection, it turned out that Henry Holbrook's mother had unwittingly purchased for her only son a pair of little girl's pajamas. Oh dear.

Henry Holbrook's mother shrugged her shoulders and declared to all who were listening, "Oh, well."

And so it is that on every fourth night, Henry Holbrook wears a pair of little girl's pajamas to bed. And oh how those pajamas force Henry Holbrook to cause mischief.

One night those little girl's pajamas gave Henry Holbrook the idea to wake his mother every three hours with forceful demands to be fed. Now!

On another night those little girl's pajamas sent funny ideas to Henry Holbrook's insides, causing a rumble so sinful in the back end of his diaper that the devil himself had to hide.

When Henry Holbrook awakes wearing those little girl's pajamas, he awakes with a devilishly clever gleam in his eyes, and wreaks all sorts of havoc until his mother finally removes those little girl's pajamas, tosses them in the laundry hamper, and then Henry Holbrook returns to his normal, rational, perfectly respectable self.

Lopsided smile and all.

  3. I love his furrowed brow. Concern? Puzzlement? Grumpy old man baby? My heart grows 10 sizes every time I see a pic. Love.

  4. He does look rather mischievous! But oh, how adorable. You know you have to keep them for him forever and ever since they're Christmas jammies - future girlfriend blackmail material!!

  13. Too funny! :)

Little Henry Holbrook will probably never know that he had on Little Girl pajamas...they're somewhat oblivious to fashion at that age. Go figure. :)

  14. That was such a perfect post--it sounded just like a storybook. Henry Holbrook is the perfect name, and I say boys can wear girls' pajamas if they want to. Everyone needs a little nonsense in their life.

  21. You are a hilarious writer! I love this post! Tell Huck it's ok because I wear men's pajamas to bed, so he can wear girl's.
