HUCK THE TODDLER AND OTHER HAIRY THINGS

last week was a little rough.
huck was feeling a little out of sorts for a few days.
his funk was funked.

why so sullen edward cullen?

on friday his fever finally broke, but he was still in this awful mood. it was pretty bad. i spent all afternoon scratching my head and wondering, "who is this child?"

he was even grouchy at the trader joes, and the trader joes is the huck's place. he owns it. it was pretty bad. i figured we needed some fun in our lives, so i took him to the park, where we waited in line for 10 minutes for the swings.

i was relieved to see my old happy goofball in there once those swings started swinging. but the minute we stopped . . . it was pretty bad.

i told my mom later on the phone, "babies i can handle. but this? what is this?!?"

on the bright side, i was pleased with my ensemble that afternoon. i have not taken this vest off in weeks. it is startling how many outfits i'll put together that look just fine without it and yet...

i wish i could quit you, brown furry vest.

it's like i was telling my mom the other day on the phone while at target (where i found a lovely little furry throw pillow AND a lovely little furry winter hat),

"i'm going through a fur thing. you know how i go through things sometimes?"

to which my mom said,

"yes."

  1. this made me laugh out loud (the convo-with-your-mom part...not the huck-enters-his-teen-years-early part).

  3. I go through "things" as well. Right now my thing is teal. I love it. Cannot get enough of it. Also, I cannot get enough of Huck's Edward Cullen face. http://www.bungalow960.com

  5. I go through things sometimes as well. Mostly annoying to The Hubster. Poor guy.

Love the Edward Cullen angsty face of Huck's.

  7. My boys were both GROUCHY for at least a week after getting sick when they were Huck's age, even though everything seemed to be fine? Oh my word. My husband and I are always about to put them up for sale when after a week the grouchies would suddenly go away. Good luck!

  9. I had that same conversation with my husband- I was so good at babies! What happened!? But 12 to 15ish months was really hard. My son got naughty on purpose, tested boundaries and got grumpy. But he is 16 months now and seems to be out of his funk for the most part. Good luck! I just wished someone had warned me 12 months was difficult.

Have you gotten in a fight with the nannies waiting for the swings? I nannied on the UWS and got in a few fights with the caribbean nannies about swing turns. Hahaha oh those are good memories! sorry for the novel!

  10. Here's the thing. Somehow you know the days I just need to see a cute baby. This chunk of yours just makes my day every time you post pictures. He is absolutely darling. I only hope I can have children half as cute as this one.

  12. One of my children was born a moody teenager. And one became one at 18 months. Sweet mercy.

  16. Babies with personality are the best ever, because even though they get grouchy and whatnot, they also do unbelievably cuteso things to make up for it. And some babies (like Huck) are even cuteso when they're being grumps.

  20. What's up with the one year olds who think they're fifteen. I'm like "Dude, you can't even be trusted with a hotdog and a blanket without supervision. Don't forget it."

  21. Haha you crack me up! Toddler are hard! So far I would say it's been the toughest stage.
